Shelby University - A Great Childcare Community in Shelby Township

Welcome in Shelby University!

We feature a 13,000 square foot facility with a 2,400 square foot indoor gym, along with a large outdoor play area. There are seven different rooms based on child’s age and development.
Our high tech security includes access codes for front door entry and webcam access to view your child online through our secure website.

Our Story

Shelby University as a local child care facility in Shelby Township was established in 2005. We started with 7 programs, 20 care givers and over 13,000 square feet building. Shelby University is not only a good place to play, it is also an awesome place to learn and create. Our pre-k graduates have great results during kindergarten assessments, which is an outcome of the excellent care and attention they get during days spent at Shelby University.

Philosophy & Mission

Our goal at Shelby University is based on a blend of educational theories that support play as children’s primary means of learning about themselves and the world around them. Our teachers utilize a “themed” approach in planning a curriculum and providing an environment that encourages self-discovery, hands-on manipulation of materials and activities that are meaningful and appropriate for young children. Regard for children’s development in all areas (social, intellectual, emotional and physical) is an integral part of our philosophy. Our daily program incorporates many opportunities for children to acquire and build skills in these areas.
